Guillen was thrown out Tuesday night by plate umpire Tim Timmons, apparently for arguing balls and strikes. The White Sox were leading 3-0. Dayan Viciedo had just been called out on a checked swing.

The Saints of the independent American Association said Tuesday they've signed Frank Viola III, a right-handed pitcher and the 26-year-old son of former Minnesota Twins ace Frank Viola. Viola III last pitched in 2007 with the Chicago White Sox organization.

The White Sox have been without Jenks the last three games as he tends to an undisclosed family matter.
