Spring training is a fun time for baseball fans. We get to follow newcomers trying to make the team, and watch returning players work on their form. Often amazing numbers are put up, as unknown players create buzz by hitting, or pitching at high levels, but ultimately spring stats are usually not good predictors of future success, or failures. I offer the following players as evidence of this point:   1. Gabe Gross The former Auburn QB had an amazing spring training for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005.

Mike Leake closed his spring training with a sorely needed solid outing. Leake pitched into the sixth inning, Drew Stubbs hit a three-run homer and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago White Sox 9-1 on Monday. "Leake threw well. That's what you want to see," Reds manager Dusty Baker said.

Chad Ochocinco is trying to become a major two-sport athlete. He is trying out with Sporting Kansas City while the NFL has locked out owners and players. Whether or not he is successful in becoming a soccer player has yet to be determined. In light of Ochocinco's move, there are plenty of two-sport athletes from which he can draw inspiration in modern sports. With opening day approaching, Jered Weaver is itching for games that count. The 2010 major league strikeout leader gave up one run over 4 1-3 innings Saturday as the Los Angeles Angels beat the Chicago White Sox 6-3. Weaver allowed three hits, struck out four and walked two. He hadn't allowed a walk all spring prior to his final exhibition start.
