The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals didn’t want to stop playing last night it seemed.  After going into extra innings, the White Sox scored two runs in the 11th inning by the Royals answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Finally the White Sox scored a run in the 13th inning and the Royals had no answer as the White Sox won 8-7.

Orlando Cabrera and a rbi double that scored Alexei Ramirez for the game winning run in the 13th inning.  In the 11th inning it was A.J Pierzynski who had a two run sac fly.  Yeah both runners scored on a sac fly!  Joe Crede, Nick Swisher, and Pierzynski all finished the game with two rbi each.  Paul Konerko and Cabrera both chipped in with one rbi each.

White Sox starting pitcher Jose Contreras pitched 5 2/3 innings as he gave up ten hits and five runs.  Contreras had some problems in the second and third innings which really hurt his performance.  The Royals scored three times in the second inning, and then another run in the third inning.  The Royals weren’t done with Contreras however as he was charged with another run in the sixth inning.

Scott Linebrink was the only White Sox relief pitcher that was charged with a run.  Linebrink gave up both runs in the bottom of the 11th inning when they Sox were trying to win the game.  Nick Masset ended up being the winner in the game is now 1-0.  Masset threw two scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Carlos Quentin broke a 1-1 tie with a grand slam in the eighth inning and then Nick Swisher added one more insurance run with a solo home run in the ninth inning as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-1.  With the late inning win, the White Sox are now just one game under .500

Jose Contreras pitched seven innings to pick up the win which improved his record to 4-3 on the season.  Contreras gave up four hits and one run while lowering his era to 3.35 on the season.  Scott Linebrink and Bobby Jenks pitched the final two innings without letting a run score.

Quentin led the White Sox with five rbi in the game and Swisher had one rbi as well.  Would have been nice to see other players step up and contribute but the White Sox got lucky that Quentin had the game he did.

The Chicago White Sox were leading the New York Yankees heading into the seventh inning but Jose Contreras ran into trouble and the Yankees score four runs on a grand slam and eventually went onto beat the White Sox 9-5.  The White Sox gave up three home runs in the game as the pitchers couldn’t keep the ball in the park.

Contreras pitched 6.1 innings as he gave up seven hits and four earned runs.  He was cruising until that seventh inning.  Boone Logan, Octavio Dotel, and Matt Thornton let another four runs cross the plate as they pitched in relief of Contreras.

Juan Uribe had two RBI for the White Sox.  A.J. Pierzynski, Paul Konerko, and Joe Crede all had one RBI each as well.  Pierzynski’s RBI came off a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Jim Thome came off his one game suspension and hit a three-run home run to defeat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 3-1.  The home run came in the first inning, and the White Sox pitching staff made those three runs hold up for the White Sox ninth win of the season.

Jose Contreras picked up the win for the White Sox.  Contrereas pitched seven innings and gave up four hits and only one earned run.  Great win for Contreras who pitched very good.  Scott Linebrink pitched the eigth inning before Bobby Jenks picked up his sixth save of the season in the ninth inning.

I would have liked to see the White Sox score more runs, but give them credit for making the three runs hold up.
