The Chicago White Sox put on a show Tuesday night as they erupted for four home runs and scored 16 runs as they blew out the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-5.  It was a great showing my the White Sox offense as they kept pressure on the Pirates pitchers all night long and was able to score off all four of them.

Orlando Cabrera, Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome, and Joe Crede all had three rbi each in the game.  All four of those players had a home run in the game as well.  Alexei Ramirez finished the game with two rbi while Carlos Quentin and Nick Swisher finished with one rbi each.

Getting the win for the White Sox was Javier Vazquez who pitched six innings giving up five hits and five runs.  Vazquez didn’t have his best stuff working but it was good enough to improve his record to 7-5 on the season.  Octavio Dotel, Nick Masset, and Adam Russell all threw a scoreless inning of relief after Vazquez left the game.

Let’s see if the White Sox can keep the momentum going when they face off against the Pirates once again on Wednesday.

The Chicago White Sox completed a four game sweep of the Minnesota Twins with a 7-2 victory on Monday afternoon.  The White Sox were down early, but then scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take the lead and get the victory.  The win improved the White Sox victory to 37-26 on the season.

Starting pitcher John Danks was rocked as he pitched six innings.  Danks allowed eight hits and five runs as he was lucky to get the no decision.  Matt Thornton ended up picking up the win as he pitched the seventh inning.  Scott Linebrink pitched a scoreless eighth inning before Bobby Jenks came in to record his 15th save of the season.

Nick Swisher and Paul Konerko both hit home runs for the White Sox.  Konerko had a two run shot in the seventh inning and Swisher had solo home run earlier in the game in the fourth inning.  Swisher finished the game with three rbi while Konerko was right behind him with two rbi.  Carlos Quentin and Jermaine Dye both had one rbi as well for the White Sox.

The Chicago White Sox picked up a nice win over the Cleveland Indians by the score of 4-1 on Tuesday night.  Jose Contreras outdueled C.C. Sabathia in a great pitching matchup that went the White Sox way this time.

Contreras pitched six innings while giving up four hits and one run to pick up the win.  Contreras is now 5-3 with a 3.17 era on the season.  Matt Thornton, Octavio Dotel, Scott Linebrink, and Bobby Jenks all combined to throw four scoreless innings to finish the game.  Jenks picked up his 11th save of the season as well in the game.

Carlos Quentin hit a solo home run in the first inning and then was followed by a solo home run by Jim Thome in the second inning.  Pablo Ozuna then had a rbi single in the eighth inning which was followed by a rbi groundout by Nick Swisher.

Carlos Quentin broke a 1-1 tie with a grand slam in the eighth inning and then Nick Swisher added one more insurance run with a solo home run in the ninth inning as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-1.  With the late inning win, the White Sox are now just one game under .500

Jose Contreras pitched seven innings to pick up the win which improved his record to 4-3 on the season.  Contreras gave up four hits and one run while lowering his era to 3.35 on the season.  Scott Linebrink and Bobby Jenks pitched the final two innings without letting a run score.

Quentin led the White Sox with five rbi in the game and Swisher had one rbi as well.  Would have been nice to see other players step up and contribute but the White Sox got lucky that Quentin had the game he did.

The Chicago White Sox lost another close game to the Minnesota Twins as they lost 4-3 on Wednesday afternoon.  The White Sox really need to get back on track after losing the last two games to the Twins.  The White Sox are now 14-12 on the season and if they don’t turn things around soon, thye are going to find themselves under .500 in my opinion.

Starting pitcher Nick Masset went four innings in the game and gave up five hits and three runs.  Masset got the no decision in the game.  Ehren Wassermann ended up pitching only .1 of an inning as he gave up the game winning run in the seventh inning to the Twins to take the loss.

Carlos Quentin had a solo home run in the fourth inning for the White Sox for their big hit on the day.  Jim Thome did get the Sox on the board first however with a RBI double in the first inning.  In the fifth inning, Nick Swisher picked up a RBI on a single to right field.

The White Sox will be off on Thursday and then will start a series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

John Danks and Nick Masset both pitched terrible for the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night as the White Sox were beaten by the Minnesota Twins 12-5.  Danks was only able to pitch 2.1 innings and he gave up seven hits and seven earned runs.  Masset wasn’t much better as he lasted lasted 3.2 innings and gave up five more earned runs.

Anytime you get in a big hole like that, your team is more then likely going to lose.  The White Sox pitchers never gave the team a shot at winning.  Hopefully they will turn things around in the next game.

The White Sox did hit three solo homeruns in the game.  Nick Swisher, Paul Konerko, and Joe Crede all went yard.  The problem was, no one was on base so it really didn’t affect the outcome of the game.   Carlos Quentin and Pablo Ozuna each had an RBI as well in the game.

Joe Crede was the main man today in Chicago as he crushed a grand slam in the 7th inning that gave the Chicago White Sox a 7-3 lead and they went onto to win the game 7-4.

Besides Crede’s 4 RBI’s, Nick Swisher, Jim Thome, and Jermaine Dye all had one RBI each.

Javier Vasquez picked up the win for the White Sox.  Vasquez pitched seven innings, giving up seven hits, and three earned runs.  Bobby Jenks got the save, it was his fourth save of the season so far.

The White Sox record now stands at 5-2!

General Manager Ken Williams announced this afternoon that the Chicago White Sox have traded for Nick Swisher from the Oakland Athletics.  The White Sox will be sending Gio Gonzalez, Fautino De Los Santos, and Ryan Sweeney to the Athletics for Swisher.

Swisher batted .262 with 22 homers and 78 RBIs in 150 games in 2007, his third full big league season. He also drew 100 walks, ranking him sixth in the AL, for a career-best .381 on-base percentage.

While I’m sad to part ways with Gio Gonzalez, this is a pretty good pickup for the White Sox.  Swisher will bring a little swagger to the clubhouse and that is something the White Sox could really use.  Wonder how Swisher and A.J. will get along lol!

What do you all think?  Is trading Nick Swisher a good move for the team at this point?  Did the White Sox give up too much for him?
