The Chicago White Sox are back in first place after they blew out the Seattle Mariners 13-5 on Monday night. With the win and the Twins losing to the A’s 3-2, the White Sox find themselves back in first place and they hope to stay there the rest of the season.

The White Sox offense got going in the second inning when they scored three runs. Paul Konerko had a rbi single which was then followed by a Nick Swisher two run home run. The sox would not score again until the fifth inning when they would push across six runs. Orlando Cabrera had a two run home run and then Jermaine Dye added a two run double. Dye’s double was followed up by rbi singles from Swisher and Alexei Ramirez. Ramirez wasn’t done at the plate however as he added a three run home run in the seventh inning. Carlos Quentin then went deep in the eighth inning for the sox final run of the game.

Mark Buehrle improved to 11-10 on the year as he pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win. Buehrle didn’t throw the ball that good as he gave up 11 hits and five runs. Luckily for him, the offense had the bats going to score enough runs so it really didn’t matter. D.J. Carrasco and Horacio Ramirez pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to hold the Mariners at five runs.

The Chicago White Sox finished up a three game series against the Texas Rangers in dramatic fashion as they came from behind to beat the Rangers 10-8.  It was a big three run home run in the 8th inning by Carlos Quentin that was the game winner for the White Sox.  They were down 8-7 until Quentin went deep for his 26th home run.

The 8th winning home run wasn’t Quentin’s only home run in the game however as he also hit a solo shot in the 5th inning.  Jim Thome had three rbi as he got the White Sox on the scoreboard with a three run blast in the first inning.  Orlando Caberea, Jermaine Dye, and Alexei Ramirez all chipped in with one rbi each as well.

White Sox starting pitcher Clayton Richard was rocked for seven hits and five runs in only four innings of action.  Richard struckout seven batters in only four innings but also gave up a home run and walked one batter.  D.J. Carrasco gave up one run while Boone Logan gave up two runs in relief of Richard.  Finally Octavio Dotel and Bobby Jenks were able to get things under control as the White Sox held on for the win.

Dotel ended up getting the win and is now 4-4 while Jenks picked up the save which was his 19th.  It was nice to see Jenks come in and pick up the save as he rejoined the team off the disabled list.

The White Sox will have a big series this weekend against the Detroit Tigers. Hopefully you can catch some of the games!  White Sox Baseball

The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals didn’t want to stop playing last night it seemed.  After going into extra innings, the White Sox scored two runs in the 11th inning by the Royals answered back with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.  Finally the White Sox scored a run in the 13th inning and the Royals had no answer as the White Sox won 8-7.

Orlando Cabrera and a rbi double that scored Alexei Ramirez for the game winning run in the 13th inning.  In the 11th inning it was A.J Pierzynski who had a two run sac fly.  Yeah both runners scored on a sac fly!  Joe Crede, Nick Swisher, and Pierzynski all finished the game with two rbi each.  Paul Konerko and Cabrera both chipped in with one rbi each.

White Sox starting pitcher Jose Contreras pitched 5 2/3 innings as he gave up ten hits and five runs.  Contreras had some problems in the second and third innings which really hurt his performance.  The Royals scored three times in the second inning, and then another run in the third inning.  The Royals weren’t done with Contreras however as he was charged with another run in the sixth inning.

Scott Linebrink was the only White Sox relief pitcher that was charged with a run.  Linebrink gave up both runs in the bottom of the 11th inning when they Sox were trying to win the game.  Nick Masset ended up being the winner in the game is now 1-0.  Masset threw two scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Now there was an exciting game between the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Indians.  After the White Sox gave up the lead in the top of the 10th inning, the Sox came back to score two runs in the bottom of the inning and pick up the 3-2 victory over the Indians.  The White Sox will now go for the three game sweep on Wednesday.

Alexei Ramirez delieved the huge hit with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning as he went deep to tie the game at 2-2.  Orlando Cabrera then singled to score Dewayne Wise for the game winning run.  Before the heroics in the 10th inning, the only White Sox run was in the second inning when Ramirez hit a sac fly that scored Jim Thome.

Adam Russell ended up picking up the victory in relief to improve his record to 1-0 on the year.  White Sox starting pitcher John Danks pitched good as he lasted eight innings.  Danks only gave up four hits and one run in the game as he got the no decision.  Matt Thornton was the White Sox reliever that gave up the go ahead run for the Indians in the 10th inning to Casey Blake.  Luckily for Thornton and the White Sox, Ramirez and Cabrera pulled through for the team in the bottom of the inning.

So do you think the Sox will sweep the Indians on Wedneday?  Leave us a comment and let us know!

The Chicago White Sox got a good start by John Danks as they beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-0 to finish up their three game series on Thursday afternoon.  With the victory by Danks and the White Sox, the Sox took two out of three games against the Dodgers.

Danks pitched six innings and only gave up four hits and zero runs.  Danks lowered his era to 2.62 in the game as he picked up the victory and improved his record to 5-4.  Matt Thornton and Octavio Dotel combined to pitch a scoreless seventh inning and then Scott Linebrink threw a scoreless inning in the eighth inning.  Bobby Jenks put the nail in the coffin for the Dodgers in the ninth inning and picked up his 17th save of the season.

The White Sox got runs in the second and third innings and that was all that they needed to get the victory.  Alexei Ramirez went 2-4 with one rbi which came in the second inning when he singled and Jermaine Dye scored.  In the third inning, Carlos Quentin singled to score Orlando Cabrera.

It was a good win for the Sox who will now flyback to Chicago and take on the Cubs tomorrow afternoon.  The White Sox have some payback on their mind so it will be interesting to see how they come out and play against the Cubs who just lost two out of three games to the Orioles.

The Chicago White Sox finished off the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 13-8 victory on Thursday afternoon.  With the nice 13-8 win, the White Sox swept the Pirates in their three game interleage series.  I don’t think Pittsburgh will ever want to come back to Chicago the way they have gotten beat by the White Sox and the Cubs.

Gavin Floyd earned the win for the White Sox and is now 8-3.  Floyd didn’t have his best stuff but it was enough to pitch  5 2/3 innings.  Floyd allowed six hits and seven runs in the game.  He did allow one home run while striking out six batters and walking two.

Matt Thornton, Octavio Dotel, and Scott Linebrink all pitched well after Floyd left the game.  However in the ninth inning, relief pitcher Adam Russell gave up two hits and one run before finally getting the last out of the game.

Jermaine Dye went 3-6 with two home runs and six rbi to lead the White Sox at the plate.  It was a monster performance out of Dye as you can see with his six rbi and two home runs.  Orlando Cabrera also swung a good bat as he had a three run home run and a sacrafice fly to finish with four rbi in the game.  Jim Thome, Pablo Ozuna, and Alexei Ramirez all finished the game with one rbi each.

Good hitting, and just enough pitching got the White Sox past the Pirates.  Now they can sit back and relax until tomorrow afternoon when they start up the heated rivalry with the Cubs.  The Cubs do have to fly back to Chicago after their game tonight with the Tampa Bay Rays so they just might be a little tired tomorrow afternoon.

The Chicago White Sox put on a show Tuesday night as they erupted for four home runs and scored 16 runs as they blew out the Pittsburgh Pirates 16-5.  It was a great showing my the White Sox offense as they kept pressure on the Pirates pitchers all night long and was able to score off all four of them.

Orlando Cabrera, Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome, and Joe Crede all had three rbi each in the game.  All four of those players had a home run in the game as well.  Alexei Ramirez finished the game with two rbi while Carlos Quentin and Nick Swisher finished with one rbi each.

Getting the win for the White Sox was Javier Vazquez who pitched six innings giving up five hits and five runs.  Vazquez didn’t have his best stuff working but it was good enough to improve his record to 7-5 on the season.  Octavio Dotel, Nick Masset, and Adam Russell all threw a scoreless inning of relief after Vazquez left the game.

Let’s see if the White Sox can keep the momentum going when they face off against the Pirates once again on Wednesday.

The Chicago White sure did struggle on Wednesday night as they lost to the Detroit Tigers by the score of 5-1.  The White Sox have been playing some good baseball as of late, but Wednesday night was just one of those nights that nothing seemed to go right for them.

The White Sox were not even able to get into the Tigers bullpen where they really struggle.  Justin Verlander tossed a complete game against the Sox.  White Sox starter Javier Vazquez pitched six innings while giving up ten hits and five runs.  Vazquez just didn’t throw the ball that good.

The one run for the White Sox came in the fourth inning when A.J. Pierzynski singled in Orlando Cabrera.  The White Sox only had three other hits in the the game besides the rbi single by Pierzynski.  Hopefully it is just a one game funk and the White Sox will get back to swinging the bat better on Thursday afternoon as they play the Tigers once again.

The Chicago White Sox got off to a good start as they took on the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday night in the beginning of a four game series.  The White Sox were able to beat the Rays 5-1 as they out hit the Rays 11-7.

Paul Konerko and Joe Crede both hit home runs for the White Sox.  Both were solo shots in the sixth and eighth innings.  Carlos Quentin continued to hit the ball very good as he added another rbi for the White Sox.  Orlando Cabrera and Jim Thome also had one rbi for the Sox as they had a blanced scoring attack.

John Danks tossed six inning and allowed six hits and one run to pick up the win for the White Sox.  Danks is now 4-4 on the season.  He really tossed the ball really well tonight against the Rays and had good control as he only walked one batter and struckout eight others.

Matt Thornton, Octavio Dotel, and Boone Logan all threw one inning of scoreless relief to finish the game.

Jim Thome singled in A.J. Pierzynski for the go ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 to salvage a sweep in the series.  Thome delivered a single off of Angels closer Francisco Rodriquez.  Maybe this will get Thome out his slump that he has been in lately.

Three other White Sox batters had a rbi in the game besides Thome.  Orlando Cabrera, Juan Uribe, and Pierzynski all had a rbi at the plate.

Octavio Dotel ended up getting the win which improved his record to 2-2 on the season and Bobby Jenks recorded the save which was his eighth. Starting pitcher Javier Vazquez tossed 6 2/3 innings while allowing nine hits and three runs.

The White Sox will now begin a series with the San Francisco Giants.  White Sox Blog
